The Queerish Book Club August 2024: Daughters of Olympus by Hannah Lynn

The Queerish Book Club is a monthly book club that specialises in LGBTQ+ literature. It typically runs on the last Monday of the month at 7pm and takes place at The Queerish Bookshop.

Our August book is Daughters of Olympus by Hannah Lynn and our meeting will take place on Monday 26th August at 7pm.

Daughters of Olympus - Book Club Questions

1. Was this your first time reading a Greek myth retelling, or one of many that you have read? For first timers, did it spark your interest to read more retellings? For those who are familiar with the genre, how did this compare to other Greek myth retellings you've read?

2. Compare mother and daughter. In what ways are they similar? How are they different? 

3. Demeter is convinced Core is naive though her daughter is centuries old. Do you agree with her? 

4. Ione consistently refuses immortality though Core begs her to accept it. Why do you think she does this? What would you do under the same circumstances? 

5. Hades believes he can take Core as his wife and keep her against her will. What makes him realise he's in the wrong? Do you think he atones for what he's done?
