Rediscover history, reimagine the future, and embrace the art of being unapologetically you.
Step into TRANSITIONAL SPACES at Number 40, Darlington, as we explore 200 years of railway history through a queer lens. Join award-winning visual artist Lizzie Lovejoy for an evening of creativity, self-expression, and connection.
This FREE interactive workshop invites you to celebrate the hidden queer histories of the railways and reimagine the tracks to your future self through art. No experience needed - just bring your creativity!
Let's Get Crafty!
During the workshop, there will be a carousel of activities that are self-led. You can try your hand at all of them, or stay focused on one project throughout the night. The choice is up to you!
These are the wonderful activities you will have the chance to take part in:
1. Zine Making: Dive into the history of zines, then create your own illustrated “railway passport” that reflects the person you are and want to be.
2. Queering Railway Posters: Reimagine vintage railway posters with a twist inspired by the golden age of illustration.
3. Collage Non-Traditional Portraits: Design abstract self-portraits with images that speak to who you are beyond the literal.
4. Who We Are: Collaboratively write a manifesto that celebrates who we’ve been, who we are, and who we’re becoming.
