The Queerish Book Club
The Queerish Book Club is a monthly book club for adults that specialises in LGBTQ+ literature. It runs on the last Monday of the month at 7pm and takes place at The Queerish Bookshop.
Our January 2025 book is The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri and we will meet on Monday 27th January 2025 at 7pm to discuss.
To attend, you will need to book your free ticket here in order to guarantee your spot. You can also buy the book in-store or order online.
How does the book club typically run?
Each meeting will start with folks introducing themselves (name & pronouns) and rating the book out of 5 stars. After that we'll dive into the book club questions (that are published on the blog) for just under an hour. At the end, the next book will be announced and people can purchase the book then and there if they'd like.
What books will we be reading?
At our first meeting, we discussed what types of books everyone wanted to read. The outcome was we will read primarily fiction books with the occasional non-fiction, and they will focus on LGBTQ+ narratives and queer theory/politics.
How long does the club last?
It lasts one hour, from 7pm to 8pm.
Where is it held?
The Queerish Book Club takes place at The Queerish Bookshop on 39a Bondgate, Darlington, County Durham, DL3 7JJ.
I'm interested but I'm not sure if it's fully right for me ...
Feel free to book a free spot and come along to a meet-up so you can get the vibe of the club and decide whether or not it's right for you! You don't have to have read the book to come along for a taster session. We know how nerve-racking it can be joining a social group for the first time so please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any more questions or would like some support in joining: thequeerishbookshop@gmail.com
